Hello Facebook!  Are you a family needing a dog who still feels like a puppy?  Do you long to play ball?  Do you like taking hikes and jogs through the great outdoors? Would you like to throw a ball in a lake and have it returned?   Do you need a travel buddy to visit those quaint coastal towns? Well, if you answered yes to any of these questions, I have the perfect solution for you!  Me - Porter!  Because I want to do all those things too!  
I have to tell you I feel like a brand-new puppy since I met the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, and everything changed for the better.  I went from bored in the back yard to a dog loving, ball-throwing, walk taking, water-available foster family full of love and good spirits.  Truly, what a wonderful thing surrender to a rescue can be.  Now, they tell me that there are families out there who would just love to have a sweet, handsome guy like me in their life.  So, here I am, waiting for you!
One of the best things about me is that while I am a dog with house manners, I still have that silly puppy heart.   Im happy and goofy and I love dogs and kids! Im house trained, and leash trained, and I am past chewing.  I know how to sit, and I know the word down.  And while the crate isnt my favorite place, I will go in there to make you happy, but it isnt all that necessary.  Oh, and I promise you, no matter how many times that tennis ball tries to get away from you I will bring it back to you!  Oh, and water

even the water bowl will do!  My tail is wagging just thinking of all the things we can do as a family! Picnics in the park

just pack me a sandwich.  And at the end of the night, when its time to be quiet, we will sit by the fire or TV set, and eat popcorn and remember how good our day was together

Porter is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  This house-trained, lovable guy will require some refresher training and regular exercise to be the ideal family dog.  He will go in his crate and plays well with other dogs.  There are no cats or kids in his foster home, but he is very friendly and loving to people

If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped.
